Welcome to Craig's Spa Cleaning

Providing careful attention to detail in the cleaning, decontamination and routine water maintenance of residential spas.

About

Welcome to Craig's Spa Cleaning, your dedicated specialist in hot water hydro massage baths since 2002. Unlike typical hot tub companies that sell, maintain, repair and install spas, decks, gazebos, etc. Craig's Spa Cleaning provides expert care for your spa by focusing 100% attention, effort, training and time toward that cause only. And because this is a single man operation, you won't see a different person in your yard every trip thus ensuring that you receive consistent service from the same professional every time. With a comprehensive approach from chemical balancing to a full-scale decontamination, you can relax and enjoy your spa without the hassle of maintenance or chemical purchases again. Craig's Spa Cleaning is here to take care of that for you.

Why

A spa is basically a bathtub which cleans you as you take in the therapeutic benefits of hydro massage. Air infused water forced through the jets creating that massaging effect is also exfoliating your skin. Warmth of the water opens the pores as the force rinses off body oils and blasts away dead skin cells and environmental contaminants.  There are about a thousand different species making up billions of living bacteria on our skin in addition to millions of fungi cells and a few multi legged parasitic mites which make up the human body macrobiotic flora, and of which we can't survive without. When soaking in a hot tub our bodies releases hundreds of thousands of these good microbes and bad contaminants within a short time.

Most common of these harmful rapidly multiplying microbes are pseudomonas (hot tub rash), Legionella pneumophila (Legionnaires' disease), mycobacterium, E. coli, Meningitis and herpes simplex type 1. Bacterial colonization occurs quickly when it first gains a foothold. Within days a slime starts forming in areas you can't see. This layer forms a protective shield for bacteria to thrive and mature. Sanitizers can kill the planktonic or "free floating" bacteria but can's break into that biofilm colony to destroy it. There is nothing you can do to eliminate biofilm formation no matter how meticulous your maintenance protocols are. Thus, the reason a decontamination purge is recommended every four months.

Knowing what I know, you will never find me in, or within vapor breathing distance, of a public spa. Even if proper sanitization levels are brought up to kill off an influx of bacteria, the dead fragments (endotoxins) are dispersed in the air which are inhaled into people's lungs causing hypersensitivity pneumonitis (hot tub lung).
